Gardens Apprenticeships for Trainees

Posted Thursday February 29, 2024

Gardens trainees, Finn and Keiran, have moved on from the Gardens@syd trainee programme to start their apprenticeship with the Dunedin Botanic Gardens. This is a three-year contract of work and study, which, if completed successfully, will result in qualifying with the NZ Certificate in Amenity Horticulture (Level 4). This qualification is highly respected within the horticulture industry in NZ and overseas.

The pathway from Gardens@syd with Southern Youth Development to the Dunedin Botanic Gardens apprenticeship programme is a natural one, with many trainees taking the opportunity to continue to be involved. Finn and Keiran now have the opportunity to use their newfound skills for a wider variety of roles within the Gardens.

Good luck Finn and Keiran! We wish you all the best for the future!
