Bike Grabs for University Students

Posted Wednesday March 6, 2024

The start of the year is a busy time for students, but over 50 students made the time to come see the syd tīma to get their own recycled bicycle and sign up to volunteer with us. It was an incredibly busy event, with a lot of people wanting bicycles to help them get around the city more easily.

Bike Grabs with bikes@syd have been a part of the University calendar for a number of years now. Students get to help fix a bicycle and then take it away with them. When they've finished studying, or are leaving Ōtepoti, they return the bicycles so the next generation of students can enjoy them in the community. It's a circular economy with rangatahi and young adults at its center, leading the way for better choices for cyclists in our city.
